Neighbourhood Narratives is a StoryLab for local councils, community organisations, libraries, museums, placemakers and cultural workers who want to document and amplify the stories of their region.

We work alongside you and your community to co-create authentic, grassroots short films that celebrate place, memory, and local identity.

Whether it’s part of a festival, public art project, or civic initiative — these stories foster long-term cultural connection, creative engagement and community wellbeing.

At the heart of every StoryLab is a creative workshop — not just a film shoot.

We meet with you, and the people who matter most in your community, to discover meaningful stories and surface hidden gems. These conversations often spark new insights, offerings, or directions — and together we shape a fresh narrative that reflects who you all are together, and where you’re going.

How a Neighbourhood Narratives StoryLab works

  • We meet with you, your staff and regional partners to understand your goals and community context.

  • Through workshops and open-ended story sessions, we find the people whose voices reflect the character of your place.

    Our sessions are designed as creative workshops — bringing together diverse voices and surfacing local stories that might otherwise remain untold. We’re not just documenting what’s already happening, but helping communities reflect, connect, and imagine what’s possible. The film becomes part of that future-making.

  • We capture the textures, sounds, streetscapes and spaces that emerge from our workshops and define your region.

  • We shape a short film that becomes a lasting asset — for public sharing, funding reports, exhibitions, or digital archives. And most importantly, something your community will be proud to share with their friends and family here and around the world.
